Dear Parents/Carers,

I am delighted to share with you a few updates this term. Please take the time to find out what is going on in school and come along to events that you are able to.

Meet the Teacher

Wednesday 13th September 2023 @ 3.15pm – 4.30pm

Children and staff would like to invite our parents and carers into the school for a casual ‘Meet the Teacher’ drop in afternoon. This is an informal afternoon where you can take a look inside your child’s learning area and get a chance to talk with the class teacher and other parents and families. There is no need to make an appointment, however if you are able to come along, please click HERE. This will give the school an idea of how busy the afternoon might be!

Armed Forces Families

Thursday 14th September 2023 @ 2pm

We are working closely this year with Emer Flett who is the Service Pupil Advisor working for families within the Armed Forces. If you would be interested in coming along to an initial drop-in morning / afternoon to meet with Emer, please complete the form: https://forms.gle/CgKT9gvjxfMjbCsC8

First Friday Mass

Friday 6th October 2023 @ 9.30am

St Joseph’s Primary will attend St Joseph’s Parish Church for First Friday Mass each month. This will begin on the 6th October 2023. Children should come to school in school uniform as the walk to and from school will take the place of PE for the day. We warmly welcome families to join us in the parish on these days. If you can attend on the day, please click HERE.

Safety in St Joseph’s Primary and Pre-5 Unit

As part of a safety risk assessment undertaken in the school this term, there are some areas within the school grounds that require urgent attention to ensure a safe environment for our children. As part of this risk assessment, the school gates for the path entering the school and the car park gates will be closed during 9am – 3pm. The school gate for the path into the school will remain unlocked to allow guests and visitors to enter. All visitors must ensure the close the gates after use. The car park gates will be closed over to ensure cars are not driving into the school area while children are at play. We will also close off the playground walkway beyond the P7 class door to ensure no cars are able to drive further down unless supervised by a staff member.

Please be aware that dogs are not permitted on school grounds at any time. Some of our younger children are very scared of dogs and have shared they can feel unsafe when dogs are nearby. Please do not walk towards the school gate with dogs during drop-off and pick-up to support a feeling of safety for all our children.

Kind regards,

Mrs Pauline Walsh

Acting Headteacher
